What’s the First Step?
The first step in getting Laser Tattoo Removal in the greater Atlanta area is to contact Skin Care at 5th Ave. for your consultation with Dr. Galitzin. During your initial appointment at our office, Dr. Galitzin will examine your skin and tattoo to give you an estimate of how many treatments you may need. The number of treatments a patient will need depends on the size, age, and colors of the tattoo, as well as the patient’s skin tone and how deep the pigment goes. After he has the information needed, Dr. Galitzin will create your treatment plan. If you agree with the plan, our Patient Coordinator will be able to help you schedule your first Laser Tattoo Removal session.

What to Expect on the Day of Laser Tattoo Removal
Your treatment will begin with us providing you with protective eyewear. Before your treatment begins, we may also numb the treatment area with numbing cream or a local anesthetic. Next, Dr. Galitzin will test your skin’s reaction to the laser before proceeding with the removal. Once everything appears safe, he will guide the PicoSure laser over your unwanted tattoo. The laser emits ultra-short pulses of light that pass through the layers of skin to heat up and shatter the ink particles. The laser will break up the ink in the outer layers of the skin first, and it could take a few treatments to reach the deeper layers of ink. Once finished with your treatment, you will be provided with an ice pack to soothe the treated area and the tattoo will be covered with a bandage and antibiotic cream.

Laser Tattoo Removal Recovery
After your laser tattoo removal at our office outside, your provider will give you specific instructions to minimize discomfort. Keep the treatment site bandaged and apply antibacterial ointment for several days to aid in the healing process and reduce the risk of infection. Change your bandage each time you apply ointment.
During the two weeks following your treatment, keep the treated area clean, dry, and protected from sunlight. You should avoid any direct sun exposure between treatment sessions and wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher to further protect your skin. Avoid wearing tight clothing and don’t pick at the treatment site.

Is Laser Tattoo Removal painful?
Laser Tattoo Removal isn’t “painless”, however, it won’t hurt nearly as much as getting the actual tattoo itself. We do use a local anesthetic or topical numbing cream to make your experience more tolerable, but most patients compare the sensation to a bad sunburn, with the laser feeling like a rubber band snap.
How many appointments will I need?
Most patients require at least six to eight treatments, but your tattoo should become noticeably lighter with each appointment. You'll have to wait six to eight weeks between treatments to allow your skin time to heal.
Results will vary from patient to patient.
How long until I see results?
You will be able to notice instant results after your first session, however, it will take multiple sessions before you are tattoo free. The ink will become less prominent after each treatment and will eventually fade into oblivion when your procedure plan is complete. The best way to know when you will see your final results is to come in for your consultation and allow Dr. Galitzin to assess your tattoo.
