What is BOTOX?
BOTOX® is a minimally invasive cosmetic treatment that uses botulinum toxin type A injections to relax your underlying facial muscles, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and raise the brows. BOTOX is a safe, non-surgical cosmetic procedure that temporarily reduces the appearance of crow’s feet, creases in the forehead, and frown lines between the eyebrows. What’s the First Step?

What to Expect on the Day of BOTOX
Before treatment, a topical numbing cream may be applied to reduce discomfort, and then you will receive two to three injections in each treatment area from a very fine needle. Dr. Galitzin may very gently massage the injection, but it is done with extreme caution to avoid spreading the toxin elsewhere in your body. Once the injections are finished, you will be given an ice pack to lightly apply to your face to minimize bruising and swelling.

BOTOX Recovery
There are many wonderful aspects of BOTOX injections, but we feel one of the best is that there is no recovery time or downtime required. You should avoid lying down for the first few hours or engaging in strenuous activity during the first 24 – 48 hours. Other ways to achieve optimal results from your treatment are to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after your BOTOX injections, as well as not to take painkillers of any kind.

BOTOX FAQs
Is BOTOX painful?
BOTOX is not considered to be a painful experience. You may feel the pinch of the injection needle, but we use a numbing cream to provide you with a pleasant treatment experience. In addition, our providers have been trained in the best techniques possible, so most patients barely feel the needle.
How many appointments will I need?
You will be able to enjoy the results from BOTOX after one treatment, but since it is not a permanent treatment, you will need to return every 3 - 4 months to maintain your appearance.
How long until I see results?
Once you are finished with your injections, you will notice a change in your appearance, however, it can take 2 - 4 days for the botulinum toxin to take full effect, weakening the muscle and stalling movement. At around 2 weeks, you will be able to enjoy the optimal results from BOTOX.
Can I combine BOTOX with other procedures?
Many of our greater Atlanta area patients combine their BOTOX treatment with Dermal Fillers, Chemical Peel, or Microdermabrasion which leads to gorgeous results! Laser treatments are also often combined with BOTOX for a great 1-2 touch-up!
What are the risks associated with BOTOX?
BOTOX is a very safe and effective procedure, but there are certain side effects related to the treatment, which can include but are not limited to:
- Bruising
- Crooked smile or drooling
- Headaches
- Eyelid drooping
- Eye dryness or severe tearing
- Flu-like symptoms or a general unwell feeling
- Mild pain or swelling around the injection site
- Numbness
- Upset stomach
- Weakness in nearby muscles
